Even during a lunar eclipse. I wanted to clear this up, because there was some confusion at dinner last night. Now, whether the birds stop singing during an eclipse I still don’t know. Does anyone know whether Joel was joking?

Well, lunar eclipses happen at night and birds are usually sleeping then, and so not singing.
In the rare instance of a total solar eclipse, might the birds think it’s nighttime and go to sleep? I do not know but it could be plausible.
In the case of a partial solar eclipse, things do not look much different than they do when it is cloudy so I would think that birds would be unaffected.
